Twitter is bringing Multi-Tweet-ability to us!

I discovered this from our SoMe group chat and @AVKwong mentioned this…brilliant! I can see this being a big hit at a conference or two…hopefully it won’t be a licence to ramble though!?

We reinforced the SB4YB!!

A new concept to us, but I hear similar things go on elsewhere in the UK. We place this laminate over our US machines before we start our blocks…you can download a copy by clicking but acknowledge us is all we ask. In press article too👍

Head to head on the portables!!

A great little snippet of the 3 biggies within the parable US world. I have to say, I love my Vscan DP! It has become invaluable to me, both on ITU and on the wards, pre-op assessment. But will it be worth the wait for the Butterfly…??

Look at this for a rather rare sight!

Puff right out…then grab that paper bag!

A nice blog from Pulmcrit on respiratory drive with case discussions (including what you may think is slightly controversial – opiates to decrease the resp drive in acute asthma…wow!). Brings you back to basic physiology again.

Watch the initial loading people!

This is a great blog from Emcrit, within their iSepsis section. It contains commentary from Paul Marik on his paper looking at a large cohort of patients and what they received as far as initial fluid resuscitation in sepsis was concerned. Take a look….original paper below too.

Birds do it…Bees do it…even cardiologists do it!

We are all advocates here, obviously! But this article highlights beautifully the usage of social media in medicine and what it can do for us. Uses cardiologists as the example.

Don’t lose the CO2!

Lose your ETCO2 trace in theatre and it’s not a disconnection…worry! I always explain to trainees that if your ETCO2 level is dropping, it’s likely to be a cardiac output related phenomenon…then sure enough, the BP reading comes back…LOW! So, it’s no surprise that CO2 levels are useful to look at during a resuscitation effort….but is there any prognostic value??
