A Legend in the Making!
Follow him on Twitter, I did and I got rather a surprise when I saw him in the crowd at the 15th Manchester Critical Care Symposium 2018 (#CCS2018). Some of these conferences give us the chance to put faces to the Tweets we love and follow.
As we delivered our talks to the crowds, there he was, sitting there and listening intently. But, little did we know, he had the chair next to him set up like an artist’s easel…a variety of coloured pencils splayed out at the ready to produce the best notes I have ever seen! Some of these included the talks I delivered.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome him on board with Critical Care Northampton as our official medical artist!!
I asked him for a bio and pic of himself….and in true humour and in a way befitting his charm, this is what I got!
Dr Hugh Gifford @hughgifford
“Hugh emerged from the ravaged ganglands of Kingston upon Thames at an early age. He gained a medical degree whilst almost drowning in medical mind maps, eventually eloping to Scotland, where he became their first single CCT ICM trainee. People said “are you mad?” so he added in Respiratory as some sort of answer. His interests are too many to list, but Jonny liked his cartoons, so I suppose Medical Doodles would be the passion to mention”.
“I suppose my long term dreams (been on the back burner for years until recently) are FOAMed for global health critical care, especially low-middle income settings.” He adds in a statement that grabbed me, as it’s a passion I share too with this site….”I think the short term dream plan would be to get a team together and collaboration to create tailored infographics/pics for publication open access, whether on FOAMed sites or anywhere really”. So there we have it and here are some starters, showing what he can do and demonstrating what you might get to see from us here very soon. Here we go…..his summaries of the talks from #CCS2018 Manchester.
